WHAT IS TRICK DOG?

Welcome to Trick Dog - The Trick Dog Test is designed to encourage people to develop a solid relationship with their dog through working with that dog. This will also encourage good pet ownership and improve the handlers training skills by diversifying their training they do. The test is designed to be all inclusive, catering for dogs of all ages and breeds (including cross breeds), as well as handlers and dogs of varying physical abilities. Trick Dog will also expand a dog’s physical and mental ability and offers an activity for older dogs that have been retired from other forms of competition. It is also designed with the domestic pet owner in mind, encouraging them to spend more time with their dog and, hopefully, for them to become part of the KUSA family.

NEWS

We are pleased to announce that entries are now being accepted for ALL levels.  Please get cracking on those videos as we are looking forward to seeing your dogs progress and continuing on this exciting journey.

We regret that the price of rosettes has gone up. We are investigating ways of keeping these costs to a minimum and will keep you informed.

Please have a look at the Rules and the Guidelines for more information about the various levels and what is expected.  A couple of tips and pointers to remember:

Please remember to show your dog doing each trick three times in succession (this is VERY IMPORTANT). It is not enough to just show the trick once. Also, the tricks must be shown in succession e.g. start video, do tunnel, do tunnel, do tunnel, end video. These clips can then be stitched together into one larger video for submission.

Provincial Councils

Posted in KUSA Documents

The main provinces in South Africa have their own Provincial Council where KUSA affiliated clubs' representatives come together to discuss important policies and activities across various canine activities, from agility to breed shows and social awareness.

The Chairman of each Provincial Council serves on the Federal Council (Fedco) of KUSA, who meet twice a year to discuss matters brought forward by the Provincial Councils and the KUSA office. Fedco is empowered to make management and policy decisions for KUSA and its affiliates.

Important Club Notice - Show Disclaimer

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO THE OFFICERS, SHOW MANAGERS & TRIAL MANAGERS OF CLUBS AND OTHER ORGANISERS OF KUSA-LICENSED  SHOWS AND EVENTS

We refer all those involved in the organisation and management of KUSA-licensed Shows and Events to the Minutes of Fedco 06-2020, in particular to Items 3.12.2 (Clubs’ Disclaimer Notice) and 3.12.3 (Clubs’ Right of Admission Reserved Notice). These Minutes were distributed to all interested parties in July 2020 by the KUSA Office and the respective Provincial Councils and are also available of the KUSA website.

At its meeting held in June 2020, the Federal Council resolved that, for the reasons set out in detail in the Minutes, it would be mandatory for Clubs and other Show and Event organisers to display the following Notices at all KUSA-licensed Shows and Events:

DISCLAIMER

Those entering and/or lingering on these premises do so entirely at their own risk and agree, on behalf of themselves and on behalf of those accompanying them, e.g. their invitees, guests and/or minor children, that (insert name of show-holding Club) and/or the Kennel Union of Southern Africa, their Members, Officers, Officials, Employees and/or Representatives, shall not be liable for the bodily harm or death of any person, or the loss or destruction of, or damage to, any property or belongings brought onto the premises, howsoever arising or resulting from any act, omission, or conduct of those entering or present on these premises.

and

RIGHT OF ADMISSION RESERVED

Notices may either be displayed separately, or combined into a single Notice.

Notices should be in a size, font and colour which ensures maximum visibility and must be on prominent display in high-traffic areas at the Show/Event venue (e.g. Entrance to Venue, Show/Event Office and Toilet Area).

Some dedicated Show venues, such as Goldfields Showgrounds in Gauteng, have indicated their willingness to have boards manufactured for permanent display. For those dependent on multi-functional venues on an ad hoc basis, it is recommended that durable laminated Notices be produced which could be used from year to year.
