ADDITIONS AND AMENDMENTS
TO
THE ARTICLES AND SCHEDULES OF THE CONSTITUTION
The additions and amendments to the Articles and Schedules listed below were agreed to by the Federal Council at its meeting held on 27 & 28th June 2015. The Articles will become effective on 01 February 2016 (01.02.16) and the Schedules will become effective on 01 October 2015 (01.10.2015) or on 01 January 2016 (01.01.2016), unless otherwise stated.
Clubs are reminded that in terms of Article 40 of the Constitution, Affiliated Clubs have the right to object to any proposed amendment or part thereof to the Articles, but this does not extend to the Schedules which are governed by Article 41 of the Constitution.

AMENDMENTS TO THE ARTICLES
ARTICLE 29 – CHAMPIONSHIP SHOWS – FREQUENCY (Effective 01.02.2016)
Amend to read:
29.1 No Club shall hold more than one (1) Championship Show in any calendar year, unless dispensation is granted by the Executive Committee.
AMENDMENTS TO SCHEDULES

SCHEDULE 2 - REGULATIONS FOR THE CLASSIFICATION, REGISTRATION AND TRANSFER OF THE REGISTERED OWNERSHIP OF DOGS – APPENDIX A (Effective 01.01.2016)
The following changes will be made to Appendix A:
Corgi (Cardigan Welsh) to be changed to Welsh Corgi (Cardigan)
Corgi (Pembroke Welsh) to be changed to Welsh Corgi (Pembroke)
Corso Dog to be changed to Italian Corso Dog (Cane Corso Italiano)
SCHEDULE 5B (4) – WORKING UTILITY DOG (Effective 01.01.2016)
Amend to read:
Regulation 4.1.9 – Search and Identify Article, 35 marks (article MUST be found to qualify). The object of this exercise is for the dog to find the article
Search 20 marks
Finding article 10 marks
Barking 5 marks
Article must be placed no less than 30m forward from the base line at point of entry.
A well-defined area of natural ground, approximately 75m x 75m will be used for this exercise which has been foiled, by being walked over by a group of handlers and dogs,
A dog must be able to move and scent freely over the ground. In this area, at a place chosen by the Judge, an article will be suitably placed. The article will be a large object, not easily retrievable. The article will be so placed among natural cover as to be not readily visible to the handler or dog except at close range e.g. 3m. The article will not be buried or totally concealed.
The Judge will indicate the boundaries of the area to the handler and will indicate from which side of the area he is to begin the exercise. The handler must remain approximately on the centre line running through the area from the starting point. It is permissible for the handler to direct the dog to ensure a thorough search but excessive commands not obeyed will be penalised (by a maximum of 2 marks for the whole exercise); the Judge using his discretion according to prevailing conditions. When the dog finds the article it must bark to attract the handler.
The dog must not bite or worry the article. A maximum of 5 marks will be deducted for biting or worrying the article.
The article may not contain food or carry the scent of food.
The article may not consist predominantly of metal.
A maximum time of ten (10) minutes is allowed.
Once the handler has reached the base line on the far side of the area he may turn round and come back on the centre line and continue the search with the dog if time allows. Dogs are not to be penalized for indicating incorrect articles and must be allowed to continue until such time as the dog finds the article or time elapses.
SCHEDULE 5E (16) – REGULATIONS FOR THE NATIONAL DOG SHOW JUMPING LEAGUE (Effective 01.01.2016)

Regulation 7 – The Competition
7.2 The first three (3) legs of the National Dog Jumping League will be run between 1 January and 30 June. The last three (3) legs of the National Dog Jumping League will be run between 1 July and 31 December.
SCHEDULE 5E (22) – REGULATIONS FOR NORTHERN AREAS TOP DOG COMPETITION (Effective 01.10.2015)

Regulation 9 – Judges
9.1 The number of judges appointed to judge Breed, Adult and/or Puppy to be at the discretion of the organisers.
9.3 The names of the Judge or Judges shall be advised to the competitors at the time their invitations are dispatched or may only be made public at the start of the event.
SCHEDULE 10 (APPENDIX 1) - KUSA BREED JUDGES LEARNING PROGRAMME (Effective 01.10.2015)
Regulation 1.2 – Application
Amend to read:
1.2.1 The applicant must gather the following material in support of his/her application to begin the KUSA Breed Judges Learning Programme:
1.2.1.1. a comprehensive curriculum vitae recording the following
a) motivation for wanting to judge
b) a summary of involvement in canine activities and achievements (See Reg.1.1.1.4.)
1.2.1.2. a sponsorship letter on a Club letterhead endorsed by the Club Chairman of a Kennel Union-affiliated Breed or Group Club in support of the applicant’s application.
1.2.1.3. the completed application form
1.2.2 This application, together with all supporting documents must be forwarded to the KUSA Judges’ Department.
Regulation 1.3 - Interview
1.3.1 On receipt of the application, the KUSA Judges’ Department will forward it to the Provincial Breed Judges’ Sub-Committee (PBJSC) for their perusal and discussion.
1.3.2 The PBJSC will arrange an interview with the applicant, at which there will be no fewer than two PBJSC members. Allowance is made for PBJSC members from any province to stand in as interviewers.
1.3.3 During the interview, the applicant will be granted the opportunity to elaborate on his/her motivation to become a judge and experience in canine activities.
1.3.4 The PBJSC may guide the applicant towards what to expect in the learning programme and in the activity of judging.
1.3.5 The PBJSC will advise the Provincial Council and the KUSA Judges’ Department of their decision regarding the suitability or unsuitability of the applicant. This decision will not be further debated at the Provincial Council.
1.3.6 Should the application be successful, the registration fee will be due to the Kennel Union. On receipt of payment, the application will be confirmed by the Kennel Union office and the Candidate Judge will be allocated a personal judge’s number and all necessary learning material and guidelines will be forwarded to the Candidate Judge.
1.3.7 Should the application be unsuccessful, the PBJSC will need to provide reasons why it is felt the applicant is not yet ready to join the programme and advise in which area the applicant needs to gain further experience. The applicant will have the opportunity to reapply once all the criteria have been met.
Regulation 1.5 – Support Material
1.5.1 The KUSA website will host comprehensive support material, accessible through the Judge’s Membership Portal that will include, inter alia:
1.5.1.1. study guides to cover the material to be examined
1.5.1.2. detailed guidelines on how to work through the KUSA Breed Judges Learning Programme
1.5.1.3. detailed guidelines on the structure of the examination and how to prepare for it
1.5.1.4. a list of recommended reading
1.5.1.5. glossary of terms
Regulation 2.4 – Evaluations
Amend to read:
2.4.7. Note Learner Judges residing in the Eastern Cape and Free State/Northern Cape only are permitted one additional group at a judging appointment per year in their home areas over and above the 1 or 2 groups that they are currently studying.
A judge from any province who is invited to judge at open shows in the Eastern Cape, Namibia or Free State/Northern Cape (excluding FS/NC open shows held near Johannesburg) will be permitted to judge one additional group at a judging appointment per year over and above the 1 or 2 groups that they are currently studying. Evaluations must be written for that judging appointment and stored in the Judge’s portfolio until they start studying that group.)
Regulation 7 – International Judging Module
Entire regulation to be deleted with immediate effect.
